Browntail Moths on Vaughn's Island--Island Steward Alert

Browntail Moth Infestation is still a concern to anyone travelling to Vaughn Island. Recent and ongoing assessments throughout the winter and this spring conducted by "Charlene Donahue" (State Entomologist) Bob Haskell and"The KCT Island Stewards" have put the infestation still at concern to the general public visiting the island. The island is at a moderate infestation level (per Donahue) which should not be taken lightly. A grant was secured to develop a natural virus to collapse the colony and was going to be done this spring. Unfortunately the amount of virus required was not available and will be developed for treatment this fall.
