Thoughts of Turbat's Creek by Bethe Hagens
We live up the road from Turbat’s Creek, at the intersection with Ocean Avenue, and so we think of Vaughn’s Island as “our” neighborhood. We walk down to the Creek almost every day to watch the tide.. . . It makes all the difference in the world that the island is so pristine. In the summer, we kayak constantly and have gotten to know many of the harbor seals at Bumpkin’s Island and around the Stage Islands. It is so miraculous to me that after just a short paddle from Cape Porpoise harbor, we are into a landscape that could be Bar Harbor. It is another world, and the feeling of peace that I feel every time I realize that it will not be commercialized is so overwhelming that I sometimes cry.. . .. .. . . THANK YOU for being there, KCT!
